Description
Few amps carry the pedigree of the Peavey 6505 Plus. Born from the 5150 lineage that Peavey co-developed with Edward Van Halen, and released to mark the company’s 40th anniversary, this head has become the default weapon for heavy music — trusted by bands like In Flames, Bullet For My Valentine, Chimaira, and Unearth to deliver crushing, road-ready tone night after night.
Inside, six 12AX7 preamp tubes drive four 6L6GC power tubes for a full 120 watts RMS, switchable across 16, 8, or 4 ohm loads to match nearly any cabinet. Each of the two channels gets its own 3-band EQ plus resonance and presence controls, giving you independent shaping of the low-end punch and top-end bite that made this circuit famous. The rhythm channel adds pre/post-gain staging with bright and crunch switches for everything from tight chug to open, saturated crunch, while the lead channel’s dedicated pre/post-gain controls push the amp into sustained, singing distortion without losing clarity in the mix.
A footswitchable lead/rhythm select and effects loop (footswitch included) let you jump between rhythm and solo tones on the fly, and the preamp output opens the door to recording direct or running additional power amps.
