The Black Cat 1×12 combo carries forward the original Bad Cat voicing using current-day build methods, giving players a hand-wired-quality amp that’s ready for stage and studio work. Two EL84 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes drive a custom UK-made 12″ Celestion Bad Cat speaker, loaded into a Baltic birch cabinet for tight low-end response at 20 watts.
Channel 1 delivers the amp’s signature clear, bright character with plenty of midrange complexity – articulate enough for chord work but never edgy or thin. Switch to Channel 2 for saturated overdrive that keeps individual notes distinct even at higher gain, a trait the Black Cat design is known for. Both channels share bass, treble, and cut controls, while gain and volume stay independent per channel for quick tonal shifts between rhythm and lead settings.
Studio-grade reverb and bias-modulated tremolo add depth and movement, both accessible via footswitch alongside channel selection. A buffered FX loop keeps pedal integration clean, and the amp offers flexible output options – 4, 8, 16, and 2×4 or 2×8 ohm speaker taps plus a line out for direct recording or silent practice.
