The AMT Electronics StoneHead 50 proves that solid-state design can deliver serious high-gain pedigree without the upkeep of tubes. Built from AMT’s years of gain-stage expertise, this compact head is equally at home in a bedroom rig, a studio session, or a touring backline.
- Clean: A pure, classic clean tone with access to a light crunch via CL.MID.BOOST.
- Crunch: Thicker, harmonically rich drive with a BRIGHT switch to lift the top end. Clean and Crunch each get independent output and treble controls, sharing common middle and bass.
- Lead 1: High-gain distortion tuned for lead playing, with its own L1 VOICING control for fine-tuning tonal balance.
- Lead 2: Full-throttle metal gain — approach with caution.
Lead 1 and Lead 2 share tone controls but each has an independent TR.SHIFT switch for extra flexibility.
Beyond the channels, the StoneHead brings a parallel/serial FX loop with bypass, an external control interface for managing all four channels, switchable MASTER VOLUME A/B on the power amp section, and RESONANCE and PRESENCE controls modeled after tube amp behavior. A cabinet simulation output rounds out the rear panel, alongside three footswitch inputs for Clean/Crunch, Lead 1/Lead 2, and A-B/FX Loop switching.
At just 10 lbs and measuring 10.5″ x 6.75″ x 6.75″, this 50-watt, 8-ohm head runs on 110v or 220v AC — making it a genuinely portable powerhouse for guitarists who need serious tonal range without the weight of a tube head.
