Description
The MORE isn’t a distortion pedal chasing its own flavor — it’s a gain stage designed to push your tube amp into doing what it already does best. With a sweep from +5dB up to +40dB of clean gain and a maximum undistorted output of +16dBu, it’s built specifically to slam the input tube of a real amp, not a digital converter, so keep that in mind when placing it in your chain. Most players find it happiest right before the amp, or last in line if you’re running a pedalboard full of overdrives and distortions.
Because there’s such a wide gain range on tap, here’s how it tends to get used in practice:
- Solo boost: Minimum up to roughly 12 o’clock — enough punch to lift a solo without changing your core tone.
- Always-on sweetener: 10 o’clock to 2 o’clock — leave it engaged to warm up the first preamp tube and fill in tonal gaps you didn’t know were missing.
- Low-gain amp, big attitude: 2 o’clock to max — take a clean or low-gain amp and get it breaking up at 1 or 2 on the dial instead of 6 or 7.
- Dimed-amp overdrive: Same range, but for amps already cranked — flip it on for a serious jump in intensity.
Two versions are available: the Deluxe, which ships in a wooden box with a bandana and a laser-engraved badge, and the Bean Counter, which skips the extras in favor of a silkscreened graphic styled after that same badge — same circuit, no frills.
Runs on a standard 9V center-negative adaptor, drawing 45mA at idle and up to 52mA at maximum output (+16dBu).
