Description
After years of stacking SansAmp RBI and RPM units to build his signature layered bass tone, Geddy Lee sat down with Tech 21 to fit that whole rig into a single rackspace. The result is the GED-2112, a preamp built around a new idea: two independent SansAmp circuits running side by side rather than in series, so each can be dialed in and blended separately, sent to a mixing board, or split off to two different amplifiers.
One side, the Drive section, draws from the flexible SansAmp RPM circuit and covers everything from clean punch to warm overdrive. The other, the Deep section, adds low-end weight for a thicker, meatier foundation, with Saturation that stays clean at low settings and moves into tube-like harmonics and compression as you push it. Geddy’s own EQ curve comes pre-set into the unit, keeping the front panel simple while still giving you a sweepable semi-parametric EQ (170 Hz–3.0 kHz, ±12dB) to shape things further.
- Dual, all-analog SansAmp circuits (Drive + Deep)
- Drive control for gain and overdrive shaping
- Blend control between SansAmp emulation and direct signal
- Deep section includes dedicated 1/4-inch and XLR direct outputs
- Effect Loop with 50/50 Mix switch
- Tuner output and unaffected 1/4-inch output
- Front panel A/B switching for two basses, with dual rear inputs and -20dB pads
Built for players who need a full, layered signature tone without hauling a rack of separate boxes.
