The Suhr Hedgehog 50 takes the hot-rodded American amp lineage and gives it a modern brain. Under the hood it’s a genuine all-tube design running 4x 12AX7 preamp tubes into a 2x 5881 power section, delivering a full 50 watts RMS — enough headroom for stage and studio work without needing a second channel.
What sets the Hedgehog apart is how much tonal ground a single channel can cover. A cascaded overdrive gain stage sits alongside four independent voicing options — two levels of deep boost, mid, and bright — all accessible from the front panel. Dial in your combination, hit store, and recall it instantly with the included 4-button footswitch or a third-party MIDI controller. A programmable boost and a series/parallel effects loop round out the shaping tools, so clean rhythm tones and saturated lead tones can live in the same preset bank without re-patching cables mid-set.
Every Hedgehog is built by hand at Suhr’s Lake Elsinore, California factory, combining circuit board construction with point-to-point wiring for an amp that’s both dependable on the road and straightforward to service when it needs attention.
