Description
The Tone Master Twin Reverb marks Fender’s first serious attempt to capture a legendary tube amp entirely in the digital domain, and it succeeds by modeling the exact circuitry and 85-watt output of the classic Twin. A 200-watt digital power amp does the heavy lifting behind the scenes, generating the same expansive headroom and touch-sensitive dynamics guitarists expect from a vintage tube Twin, without a single tube in the signal path.
Tone comes courtesy of two Jensen N-12K neodymium speakers housed in a resonant pine cabinet, delivering the sparkling top end and clarity the Twin Reverb name is known for. Plug in and the front panel feels exactly like the original — same layout, same feel — including Fender’s signature spring reverb and tremolo, so the playing experience stays completely familiar.
Where this amp pulls ahead is the rear panel. Practical additions built for gigging and recording include:
- An output power selector with full power plus six attenuated settings for matching volume to the room
- A balanced XLR line output with onboard IR cabinet simulation for silent recording or direct-to-console use
- A mute switch for quiet stage setup or studio work
- A USB port for firmware updates
Perhaps the most striking difference from the all-tube version isn’t sonic at all — it’s physical. The Tone Master Twin Reverb weighs in at roughly half the load of a traditional Twin, making it far easier to haul between gigs and up stairs, all while keeping the tone, volume, and dynamic response guitarists expect from the real thing.
