Built on the same power platform as the beloved Deluxe Reverb, the Super-Sonic 22 HD Head takes that circuit and expands it into a genuinely versatile two-channel tool. This is the head version of Fender’s popular Super-Sonic 22 combo, meant to be paired with a Super-Sonic 212 cabinet or any quality 8-ohm enclosure of your choosing.
The Vintage channel gives you pre-gain tone shaping with Volume, Treble, and Bass, plus a Normal/Fat voicing switch for dialing between vintage sparkle and a thicker, rounder push. Flip to the Burn channel and you get dual Gain controls with post-gain EQ (Treble, Bass, Middle), opening the door to tight rhythm crunch through to expressive high-gain lead tones – territory well outside the usual Fender clean-and-breakup box. A shared Master and Reverb control round things out, with Fender’s own long-spring reverb (by Accutronics) adding that unmistakable splash.
Under the hood sit 3 x 12AX7 and 2 x 12AT7 preamp tubes driving a pair of 6V6 power tubes, putting this amp squarely in medium-power territory – loud enough for stage and studio work without the sheer volume demands of a 100-watt head. An effects loop with send/return lets you slot in time-based pedals after the preamp, while two speaker output jacks and a 1/4″ footswitch jack (a 4-button footswitch for Channel, Fat, Reverb, and Effects Loop is included) keep it stage-ready.
Housed in a 3/4″ birch/maple plywood cabinet finished in the vintage-style 1961 Blonde/Oxblood treatment, with ivory radio knobs and a flowing 1960s script logo, it looks every bit as classic as it sounds. A cover is included.
