Description
Built on the same power platform as the beloved Deluxe Reverb, the Super-Sonic 22 HD head packs a surprising range of Fender voicing into a compact, road-worthy chassis. This is the head version of the popular combo, ready to drive a Super-Sonic 212 cabinet or any quality 8-ohm enclosure. Finished in classic Black/Silver with ivory “radio” knobs and the flowing 1960s script logo, it looks the part while covering clean sparkle, warm break-up, and expressive high-gain distortion from a single, uncomplicated amp.
Two channels handle the tonal heavy lifting. The Vintage channel offers Volume, Treble, Bass, and a Normal/Fat voicing switch for dialing in classic shimmer or added girth. The Burn channel steps things up with dual gain stages (Gain 1, Gain 2), full Treble/Bass/Middle EQ, Volume, and Master Reverb control, letting players push into contemporary saturation without losing note definition. Fender’s long-spring reverb by Accutronics adds natural depth to either channel.
Under the hood: 3 x 12AX7 and 2 x 12AT7 preamp tubes paired with 2 x 6V6 power tubes deliver 22 watts of medium-power headroom – enough muscle for club and studio settings where a full-power Twin would be overkill. Practical touches round it out: an effects loop with send/return, dual speaker output jacks, a 1/4″ footswitch jack, and a birch/maple plywood cabinet built to last.
