Description
The GB Twin Reverb was voiced alongside jazz great George Benson to capture the clean, complex midrange he demands from his rig. Fender took the classic Twin Reverb platform and reworked the Normal channel’s first tube, swapping in a 12AY7 for a lower-gain, silky-smooth alternate voice that sits beautifully under sustained chord work and single-note runs alike.
Powering the amp is a quartet of 6L6 tubes pushing 85 watts at 4 ohms, giving you the clean headroom jazz players need before the tone edges into a musical, biting overdrive. That output runs through two neodymium 12″ 8-ohm Jensen Tornado speakers, chosen for their dynamic response and shimmering top end. Paired with a resonant pine cabinet, the neodymium magnets shave a combined 13 pounds off the amp’s total weight versus the standard build – a real difference when you’re hauling gear to a gig.
Two channels (Normal and Vibrato) with four 1/4″ inputs give you flexible routing options, while the preamp section rounds out with 3 x 12AX7 and 2 x 12AT7 tubes alongside the signature 12AY7. Cosmetically, the amp wears smoky gray vinyl, a silver sparkle grille, and a front-panel GB badge – understated styling that reads as at home on a jazz club stage as it does in a den.
