Description
The Champion 40 gives you two very different amps in one cabinet. Channel one is straight-up Fender Blackface clean, the tone that built the company’s reputation for chime and headroom. Channel two hands you a Voice selector loaded with British crunch and modern high-gain flavors, so you can move from jangly cleans to saturated distortion without touching a pedalboard. Driving it all is a single 12″ Special Design speaker pushing 40 watts, enough output for home practice, rehearsal, or a small gig where you need clean headroom in reserve.
Tone shaping stays simple: a Volume control on channel one, plus Gain, Volume, and Voice on channel two, tied together by shared Treble and Bass on the master section. The onboard effects bank covers reverb, delay/echo, chorus, tremolo, and Vibratone, with a TAP button that lets you dial delay time or tremolo speed to match a song’s tempo on the fly instead of guessing at a knob position.
Practical touches round out the package: an 1/8″ stereo aux input for jamming along to a phone or media player, and an 1/8″ stereo headphone jack for quiet late-night sessions. An optional 2-button footswitch (sold separately, P/N 0097298000) adds hands-free channel and effect switching for live use.
Cosmetically it’s vintage Fender through and through, black “Bronco” vinyl covering, silver grille cloth, an angled black control panel, and skirted knobs. At 19 lbs and roughly 17″ square, it’s light enough to move between rooms or shows without a second thought.
