Description
The 5150 Iconic Series 40-watt 1×12 combo takes the DNA of the acclaimed EVH 5150III line and puts it within reach of working guitarists who need that unmistakable Van Halen roar on a gig budget. Amp designer James Brown built this one around two 6L6 power tubes and a pair of ECC83 preamp tubes arranged in a multi-stage hybrid circuit, giving it real headroom and the growling gain EVH is known for.
Inside the MDF cabinet, internal plywood baffling tightens up the low end, while a custom-voiced EVH 12″ Celestion speaker keeps cleans glassy and high-gain tones focused rather than mushy.
- Green channel: clean-to-mild-drive range with an overdrive button for extra push
- Red channel: dedicated burn button for aggressive lead crunch
- Independent gain and volume per channel for easy level matching
- Fast-attack noise gate on channel two keeps palm-muted riffs tight
- Foot-switchable Boost adds 10dB so solos jump out of the mix
- Shared Low/Mid/High EQ plus global resonance, presence, and reverb
- Two-button footswitch, effects loop, and dual parallel speaker outs
- 1/4-power switch for cranked tone at bedroom-friendly volume
- Speaker-emulated DI XLR with power amp mute for direct recording or PA use
At 40 watts, it’s suited to smaller clubs, studio sessions, and rehearsal spaces where you still want the amp pushed for natural tube compression. The Ivory vinyl covering, black cloth grille, brushed aluminum top panel, and chicken-head knobs give it that distinct EVH look, finished with silver-and-black 5150 and EVH badging and a molded top handle. A fitted cover is sold separately as an EVH accessory.
