Description
Few amp heads carry the pedigree of the Peavey 6505. Born to mark the company’s 40th anniversary, it became the backbone tone for countless rock, hardcore, and metal acts who needed raw aggression paired with night-after-night dependability. That reputation still holds, which is why the endorser list keeps growing.
Under the hood you get five 12AX7 preamp tubes feeding four 6L6GC power tubes, pushing out 120 watts RMS switchable across 16, 8, or 4 ohm loads — enough headroom to anchor a full stage rig. The two-channel preamp switches from the front panel or the included footswitch, and the rhythm channel hides a second personality: flip on the Crunch switch and you’ve essentially got a lead-voiced tone without leaving the channel. Drop into the high-gain input and the input gain doubles for tones that lean into devastating overdrive territory.
Shaping the sound happens in the shared 3-band EQ plus Peavey’s patented Resonance and Presence controls — Resonance thickens the low end, Presence sharpens the top, letting you dial in everything from thick chug to searing lead cut. A switchable post-EQ effects loop and preamp output round out the routing options.
