The Mustang GT 40 hands you a full amp closet in a single combo. Under the hood sit 21 amp models spanning decades of Fender voicings and beyond, paired with 46 effects that cover everything from vintage tremolo to modern ambient textures. Two 6.5″ Fender Special Design speakers push a genuine 40 watts (2 x 20 in stereo) through an 8-ohm cabinet, giving you enough clean headroom for desktop recording sessions and enough grit on tap when you push the gain for practice or small-room jamming.
This was the first guitar amp built with onboard WiFi, letting you pull firmware updates, browse artist-crafted presets from players across R&B, metal, pop, and jazz, and swap tones with a global community of Mustang users. Bluetooth handles two jobs here: streaming stereo audio from your phone or laptop to jam along with, and pairing with the free Fender Tone app so you can edit amp models, tweak effects chains, and manage your preset library from across the room.
Dial things in manually with the gain, volume, treble, bass, and master controls, or use the LCD color display, encoder dial, and three soft-touch layer buttons to navigate saved tones fast. An onboard 60-second looper turns the GT 40 into a writing and practice partner, and setlist support with effects spillover keeps transitions between presets sounding natural instead of choppy.
