Description
The Bad Cat Cub 30W head takes the beloved simplicity of the original Cub circuit and gives it more range without sacrificing the touch-sensitive feel players love. This single-channel design uses a front-panel toggle to move between two distinct voicings: a Clean mode built on the classic Cub circuit for bright, chiming tones that push naturally into a smooth edge-of-breakup, and an Overdrive mode that adds an extra tube gain stage for thicker harmonics and added complexity when you dig in.
Two independently switchable master volumes let you set separate levels for rhythm and lead work, so jumping to a solo doesn’t mean scrambling for a volume knob mid-song. A dedicated midrange control gives you real shaping power over where the amp sits in a band mix, while the built-in studio-quality reverb adds depth without needing an outboard unit. A fully buffered effects loop keeps your signal clean when routing pedals or rack gear, and the included two-button footswitch handles mode and volume switching from the stage.
Inside, custom hand-wound Bad Cat transformers and a pair of EL34 power tubes (alongside three 12AX7s) deliver 30 watts of headroom suited to club and mid-size venue stages, with enough clean output to stay dynamic under pedals. The Baltic birch cabinet houses individual speaker outputs at 4, 8, 16, 2×4, and 2×8 ohms for flexible cab pairing, plus a line out for direct recording or FOH feeds.
