Description
Born from five years of touring and relentless tweaking by session/touring guitarist Pete Thorn, the Suhr PT-100 Signature Edition is a no-compromise, three-channel tube head built for players who refuse to settle for one amp voicing. It’s finished in classic black tolex with black knobs and a midnight anodized aluminium faceplate, and it’s hand built at Suhr’s Lake Elsinore, CA factory with dual-layer circuit boards and hand-wired pots, jacks, switches, and power tube sockets for the long haul.
- Channel 1 (Green): An American-voiced clean with punchy low end and huge headroom — pedal-friendly, with a switchable Crunch mode for medium-gain overdrive.
- Channel 2 (Blue): A vintage British-style tone inspired by Suhr’s own SL68, but with more preamp gain on tap for everything from low to high-gain textures.
- Channel 3 (Red): A thick, saturated high-gain channel rooted in the legendary Custom Audio Amplifiers circuit, delivering harmonically rich sustain for lead work.
Under the hood: a 100-watt output stage running four EL-34 power tubes and six 12AX7 preamp tubes through a custom Plexi-style output transformer. A solid-state effects loop switches between series and parallel operation (parallel mode requires a 100% wet-capable effects unit), and full MIDI control lets you access channel switching and the independent mosfet boost through advanced switching rigs.
The included 4-button programmable footswitch connects via the MIDI IN/FS jack and also toggles the mosfet boost — a high-headroom clean boost placed early in the preamp that can push the clean channel into overdrive or add saturation and sustain on channels two and three, programmable per channel.
A true collaboration between Pete Thorn’s decades on stage and John Suhr’s decades behind the workbench, the PT-100 is the finished product of that partnership.
