Description
The Suhr Badger 18 traces its roots back to 2005, when Suhr set out to build portable, all-tube heads that could deliver authentic British tone in any setting. Its refined circuit and footswitchable MOSFET Boost give this single-channel, cathode-biased amp a wide dynamic range – from glassy clean tones to touch-sensitive overdrive that reacts directly to your guitar’s volume knob and picking attack.
What sets the Badger 18 apart is its Power Scaling design. The Power control governs the voltage feeding the output section (and therefore the wattage), letting you dial the amp’s output down to as low as 1 watt. Pair it with the Drive control – which acts as your gain/master volume feed into the power section – and you can shape everything from a bright, cutting master-volume voice to a warm, saturated push, all at a volume that suits the room you’re playing in.

Cascading gain stages drive the input for a smooth, musical breakup, while post-gain passive Bass, Middle, and Treble controls let you sculpt the tone stack to taste – dial back the Bass as you push Gain or Drive to keep low-end definition tight. A buffered, all-tube effects loop rounds things out, working equally well with stompboxes or rack-level gear, making the Badger 18 a versatile centerpiece for studio and stage alike.
